Job summary

American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) in San Francisco seeks an Education Program Manager to partner with the Director of Education and Community Programs. The role shapes school-based initiatives, supports Teaching Artists, and builds trust with school partners and executives.

You will lead artist supervision, coordinate residencies with local schools and community partners, manage budgets and grants, and help expand arts education across the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• Pedagogical background as Teaching Artist or instructional coach.
• Bachelor’s degree in education, theater, nonprofit management, or related field; 3–5 years arts education admin experience.
• Strong project management and producing experience.
• Leadership with collaborative approach and strategic thinking.
• Emotional intelligence and ability to build Trust with teachers, youth, and stakeholders.
• Familiarity with SFUSD and DCYF preferred.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Suite; knowledge of Adobe CC, Asana, Slack preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Teaching Artists and provide feedback to ensure high-quality classroom experiences.
• Direct talent hiring, onboarding, and contracting for Teaching Artists; co-lead orientations.
• Observe classes regularly and provide actionable feedback using rubrics.
• Refine Teaching Artist residency curricula and materials.
• Coordinate advanced training sessions with Director of Education & Community Programs.
• Handle residency logistics and multi-stakeholder communications with partner schools.
• Develop partnerships to deepen program impact and track evaluation data.
• Oversee budgets and grant compliance for DCYF grant and related funding.
