Job summary

La Farm, Inc. in Cary, NC seeks a full-time bakery associate to join our artisan bread team. Compensation is hourly and based on experience, with six weeks training and eligible for increases after training. Position requires standing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and weekend/holiday shifts.

The role supports head bakers in scaling, mixing, dividing, and baking, while ensuring recipe accuracy, freshness, quality, and efficient production. Comprehensive benefits available.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years professional culinary experience baking artisan breads preferred; willing to teach.
• Production skills, technique, consistency, and accuracy.
• Demonstrated creative thinking.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Familiar with machine mixer, divider, moulder, 5-tier oven.
• Understands dough and bread fermentation; can adjust and call adjustments.
• Accurate at scaling dough; efficient mixing and shaping large volumes; proper oven management.
• Analytical ability and math proficiency to monitor production scheduling.
• Able to solve business problems quickly and efficiently.
• Strong relationship building and team player attitude.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask, meet deadlines.
• Flexibility: weekends/holidays required; two days off not consecutive.
• Desire to experiment and learn the trade.

Responsibilities

• Ensure bread production adheres to recipe specs, freshness and quality standards; maintain consistency.
• Provide world-class customer service and demonstrate urgency to serve every customer.
• Assist Head Bakers and follow La Farm's bread-making system (scaling, mixing, dividing, proofing, shaping, baking).
• Roll, shape, and bake dough; monitor ingredients and equipment; ensure safety and sanitation.
• Complete checklists, set up for next day, and manage inventory of dry goods, cooler, and freezer.
• Operate equipment: set time, temperature, and speed; bake items and rotate stock.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and compliance with laws; quality control and product checks.
• Support opening/closing procedures and uphold company standards.
