Job summary

DC Army National Guard is seeking a Cannon Crewmember to join a disciplined unit that fires artillery and supports battlefield operations. You learn weapon systems, tactics, and how to operate advanced artillery equipment while earning competitive pay during training and service.

Initial training includes 10 weeks of Basic Training followed by seven weeks of Advanced Individual Training (AIT). Benefits include tuition assistance, Montgomery GI Bill, and retirement options for part-time service.

Qualifications

• Physically and mentally fit to perform under pressure.
• Ability to make quick decisions under challenging conditions.
• Capable of working as a team member.

Responsibilities

• Conduct wire and radio communications.
• Identify target locations.
• Set, load, and fire artillery.
• Use computers to generate fire direction data.
• Operate heavy and light wheeled trucks and tracked vehicles.
• Transport and manage artillery ammunition.
• Maintain operational readiness of vehicles and equipment.
• Participate in reconnaissance operations.
