We're looking for a seasoned AI Engineer to join a growing AI and Data Science team and develop cutting-edge conversational and reasoning AI applications. This is a unique opportunity to influence the build of a product that is poised to transform the industry.
This is a remote role based in the United States.
Ideal candidates are based in the East Coast Area.
Occasional travel is anticipated.
Job Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and deploy AI-driven functionalities, including conversational assistants and document analysis (e.g., summarization, reasoning, extraction).
- Build and fine-tune Large Language Model (LLM) pipelines, including prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and embeddings-based search.
- Develop AI reasoning mechanisms.
- Optimize model performance, cost, and latency.
- Implement AI evaluation frameworks to assess system accuracy, reliability, and user experience.
- Assist the executive team by providing technical expertise on architecture and best practices.
- Work cross-functionally with data engineering and software development teams to integrate and manage AI infrastructure, including vector databases, inference pipelines, and model hosting services.
- Work cross-functionally with product and design teams to align AI capabilities with business needs.
- Stay up to date with the latest advancements in LLMs, embeddings, and AI reasoning to inform strategy and implementation.
- Establish initial coding standards and best practices, ensuring scalable and maintainable AI development.
Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in AI/ML engineering, with a strong focus on Generative AI, LLMs, and embeddings.
- Expertise in working with LLM frameworks such as LangChain, OpenAI API, or similar.
- Experience building conversational AI systems, RAG-based architectures, and knowledge retrieval solutions.
- Strong programming skills in Python and experience with relevant ML/AI libraries (e.g., Hugging Face, PyTorch).
- Experience with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate) and embeddings-based search.
- Familiarity with cloud-based AI deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Proven track record of designing and implementing AI-powered applications in production settings.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to navigate ambiguity in a fast-moving startup environment.
- Prior experience in a startup or early-stage company is a plus.
- Knowledge of AI ethics, security, and compliance considerations is a plus.
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills.
- A strong record of effective cross-functional communication and collaboration.
- A taste for innovation and optimization.
- Be a self-starter who thrives in an environment where they have both technical ownership and strategic influence.
- Have a strong balance of hands-on engineering expertise and high-level AI system design skills.
- Be excited about building AI-driven products from scratch and laying the foundation for a scalable AI architecture.
- Be comfortable working in an unstructured, fast-changing environment where decisions need to be made quickly.
- Have the ability to explain complex AI concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

- Compensation: $130,000 - $160,000. Negotiable based on education, experience, and skills.
