Job summary

Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia seeks an Art Therapist for its Therapeutic Art Studio. The role develops, facilitates, and evaluates therapeutic art programs for children, older adults, and individuals with disabilities across the Philadelphia region.

The position focuses on studio operations, participant engagement, and collaboration with agency leaders to provide inclusive, clinically informed services.

Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Art Therapy from an accredited college or university.
  • ATR-BC preferred; certification or registration through a recognized body is acceptable.
  • Must have at least two years of relevant experience, including at least one year of continuous art therapy experience.
  • Experience with older adults, children, and individuals with disabilities preferred.
  • Knowledge of DSM-5.
  • Must have a car with valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
  • Background checks (criminal, child abuse, FBI) required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, coordinate, and facilitate high-quality art therapy and expressive arts programming.
  • Collaborate across JFCS and with community partners to create engaging programming.
  • Build relationships with participants across diverse needs and abilities.
  • Guide participants in use of art media and techniques (paint, clay, fiber arts, mixed media).
  • Develop and facilitate new and existing expressive arts programs for various groups.
  • Coordinate art showcases and display opportunities for participant artwork.
  • Oversee day-to-day art studio operations, supplies, safety, and space upkeep.
  • Coordinate supplies distribution at satellite locations.
  • Observe participant needs and provide referrals or clinical interventions when needed.
  • Maintain clinical documentation per agency policies.
  • Supervise volunteers, practicum students, and interns and collaborate with partner colleges.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and program planning.
