Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution required.
• Pennsylvania teaching certification in Art Education, or active progress toward appropriate certification, is preferred.
• Experience working in urban school communities is preferred.
• Experience teaching visual arts to elementary and/or middle school students strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of artistic techniques, visual arts instruction, and developmentally appropriate teaching practices.
• Commitment to culturally responsive instruction that reflects students' identities and experiences.
• Strong classroom management skills and ability to create an engaging, inclusive learning environment.
• Ability to differentiate instruction for students with varied learning needs and artistic experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver standards-aligned visual arts instruction across multiple grade levels.
• Teach foundational artistic concepts and techniques through drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, and other mediums.
• Differentiate instruction for students with varying artistic abilities, language backgrounds, and learning needs.
• Establish a joyful, inclusive, and well-managed classroom with clear routines and high expectations.
• Assess student progress, provide meaningful feedback, and celebrate artistic growth.
• Organize student art exhibitions, collaborative projects, and school-wide displays.
• Collaborate with colleagues to connect visual arts to other academic subjects and school-wide initiatives.
• Build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
