Job summary

A busy art studio is seeking an experienced full-time Studio Manager in Honolulu. This role leads the production team, manages inventory, oversees customer service, and ensures quality and safety in all operations. This position reports directly to the artist/owner and supervises the print production specialist and studio assistants.

We are a busy art and print studio located in Honolulu seeking an experienced full time Studio Manager to join and lead our team. This role ensures smooth workflow across production, inventory, staffing, scheduling, and customer service while upholding the studio’s high standards of quality and creativity. The manager works closely with the owner/artist to support growth, streamline systems, and help build their brand through strong organizational leadership and proactive problem‑solving. This position requires familiarity with Hawai'i and Hawaiian culture.

Core Responsibilities
  • Order fulfillment: Leading order fulfillments efficiently according to deadlines and handling customer service inquiries.
  • Inventory Management: Keeping track of online and in studio inventory as well as ordering studio supplies in a timely manner.
  • Art print and merchandise preparation: Assist the print specialist in preparing fine art prints and packaging other lifestyle products.
  • Administrative and financial: Handling invoicing for D2C and B2B sales, payments, and record keeping.
  • Client and artist relations: Serving as a liaison between the artist and clients, the studio team, managing inquiries, and ensuring client needs are met.
  • Project management: Overseeing projects from start to finish, setting deadlines, and coordinating with team members to meet goals.
  • Staff and operations: Supervising staff, managing schedules, and overseeing day‑to‑day operations and team productivity. This position manages a team of 2‑4 employees daily.
  • Studio maintenance and safety: Ensuring equipment is maintained and functioning correctly, and overseeing the safe use of materials and tools, including hazardous ones.
  • Studio Aesthetics: Keeping studio and stock rooms in presentable manners as it is open to the public.
  • Market and Pop‑Up Preparation: Prepare and pack event inventory and displays for various events throughout the year.
  • Market Lead: Assist at pop‑ups and markets throughout the year (5‑8 annually).
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to lift 25 lbs and work on their feet for extended periods.
  • Comfortable giving direction, providing feedback, and holding team members accountable.
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as Google Workspace, Excel, Gmail.
  • Familiarity with inventory systems and workflow management.
  • Customer service‑oriented mindset with professionalism under pressure.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to maintain confidentiality when needed.

Experience

Required:

  • Minimum 1 year of management experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of customer service.
  • Minimum 1 year of e‑commerce or retail experience.
  • Minimum 1 year of Shopify or similar POS software.
  • High School Degree or Similar.

Preferred Experience:

  • Working in an art studio, print shop, creative production environment. Prior hands‑on work with wide‑format printing, cutting, matting, or fine‑art production (ideal but not required).
  • Background in retail, e‑commerce, or fulfillment environments is a plus.
  • Experience creating or improving systems for workflow, quality control, or inventory.
  • Familiarity with Hawaiʻi art, cultural context, or the local creative ecosystem.
  • Experience using Shopify or similar e‑commerce platforms.
  • Track record of meeting deadlines and delivering high‑quality results in busy or seasonal peak periods.
  • Experience coordinating vendors, wholesale accounts, and customer orders.
