Job summary

The Tides Inn’s Maker Space is seeking creative, guest-focused Art Instructors to lead engaging classes for adults and children in a luxury resort setting. This is a contract teaching opportunity, not a W-2 position, ideal for budding artists and art students.

Availability: Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays; two days per week. Classes run daily at 10:00–11:30 a.m. and 2:00–3:30 p.m. Through January 4, 2027, with 30% commission on class revenue per guest and gratuities kept by you.

Qualifications

• Artistic experience and confidence teaching one or more disciplines.
• Ability to lead classes independently and adapt for children and adults.
• Ceramics experience is strongly preferred, especially wheel-thrown pottery and handbuilding.
• Reliable, friendly, professional presence with attention to detail.
• Current art students and emerging artists are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

• Independently teach at least one Maker Space class to adults and/or children.
• Lead classes in Pottery on the Wheel, Clay Handbuilding, Watercolors, Printmaking, or Crafts.
• Prepare materials and maintain an organized studio environment.
• Complete class and studio set-up and clean-up.
• Deliver warm, polished guest service consistent with a luxury resort experience.

The Tides Inn's Maker Space is seeking creative, guest-focused Art Instructors to lead engaging classes for adults and children in a luxury resort setting. This is a contract teaching opportunity, not a W-2 position - well suited to budding artists, art students, and experienced instructors looking to share their craft.

Availability
Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays preferred. Instructors commit to two days per week, with priority given to Friday/Saturday or Saturday/Sunday availability.

Classes are offered daily:

• 10:00–11:30 a.m.
• 2:00–3:30 p.m.

Contract Term:Through January 4, 2027

What You’ll Do

• Independently teach at least one Maker Space class to adults and/or children.
• Lead classes in one or more of the following areas: Pottery on the Wheel, Clay Handbuilding, Watercolors, Printmaking, or Crafts.
• Prepare materials and maintain an organized, welcoming studio environment.
• Complete class and studio set-up and clean-up.
• Deliver warm, polished, high-quality guest service consistent with a luxury resort experience.

What We’re Looking For

• Artistic experience and confidence teaching one or more listed disciplines.
• Ability to lead classes independently and adapt instruction for children and adults.
• Ceramics experience is strongly preferred, particularly pottery on the wheel and clay handbuilding.
• A reliable, friendly, professional presence and strong attention to detail.
• Current art students and emerging artists are encouraged to apply.
• Earn 30% commission on class revenue per guest. Classes range from $95–$175 per guest. For example, a $100 class with four guests earns $120 in commission.
• Keep gratuities earned.
• Access to the employee cafeteria for lunch and dinner.
