Job summary

Enchantment invites guests to learn pottery in a welcoming studio. As an on-call pottery instructor, you greet participants and introduce techniques, demonstrating wheel-throwing while guiding centering, wedging, and trimming.

You will prepare clay, label and store作品, organize activities, and help guests enjoy a memorable experience. Forbes trainings attendance is required; schedules vary to fit class times.

Qualifications

  • Prefer a BA, but not required.
  • Teaching or supervisory skills.
  • Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Must pass thorough background screening before starting.

Basic Function:

Greet guests and provide an introduction to pottery techniques, terminology, and the pottery-making process. Demonstrate wheel-throwing techniques while clearly explaining each step to participants. Prepare clay by wedging and centering as needed, and teach guests the fundamentals of centering, pulling walls, and basic trimming of newly created pieces. Maintain strong organizational skills to ensure guest pottery is properly labeled, documented, and stored together throughout the process. This position facilitates indoor pottery classes and provides an engaging, educational experience for guests.

Work Performed

** This is an "On Call" position **

  • Arrive to work a half hour before program begins wearing nametag and proper uniform
  • Prepare receipts and be set up for activities prior to guests arrival
  • Sharing knowledge of the medium working in with guests and offer advice for them to improve their own artwork (For Pottery Throwing, must be able to demonstrate and assist guests with centering clay, wedging, pulling walls, etc.)
  • Create, organize and teach activities, arts and crafts for best guest experience
  • Encourage guests to look at the other art classes and sign up for additional classes
  • Order wine as necessary from room service
  • Clean all areas of the cottage to ensure neat and clean for next day. Wheels and tools to be clay free when done, floor swept and mopped. All cleaning to be done wet for health/safety.
  • Daily/Weekly monitor inventories of all crafts and department forms, let lead and / or manager know when items are low
  • Let lead or manager know of any work orders that need to be created
  • Attend Forbes trainings
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Keeping guests on task so they are able to complete their class in the given time frame

Minimum Requirements

Prefer a BA, but not required. Educational background preferred. Teaching or supervisory skills and posses the desire to teach guests to create art and expand their creativity on a daily basis. Need to be flexible and able to work on an on call basis. Must have strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills and be able to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with ease. Basic computer skills required. Strong team member relations skills is a must. Must pass thorough background screening prior to commencing work.
