Job summary

Artis—Naples, The Baker Museum, seeks an Assistant Preparator to support museum operations, fabrications, and artwork installation/deinstallation across the Artis—Naples campus.

The role coordinates collections preparation, packing, transport, storage, and exhibition support while aligning with safety and standards. Strong knowledge of AAM practices is preferred and collaboration with registrars and curators is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in museum studies, fine art, art history, studio art, history or related field.
• At least one year museum/collection experience.
• Strong knowledge of museum best practices and object handling as prescribed by the American Alliance of Museums.

Responsibilities

• Assist in preservation and care of the permanent collection.
• Prepare, handle, install and deinstall artworks to museum standards.
• Assist with packing, transportation prep, location tracking, and storage methods.
• Prepare exhibition spaces and install labels, texts panels, and signage.
• Operate trucks, forklifts and scissor lifts for installation and transport.
• Coordinate with registrars, curators and facilities teams to ensure safe art handling.
