Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and characteristics of students in the age group assigned.
• Familiarity with the prescribed curriculum and current educational research.
• Ability to plan, implement and assess instructional activities for diverse learners.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and colleagues.
• Ability to maintain safe, orderly classrooms and supervise students appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Create or select long-range plans based on curriculum priorities and student profiles.
• Define goals and objectives for unit and daily plans.
• Sequence content and activities appropriately.
• Identify learning outcomes that are meaningful and measurable.
• Revise plans based on student needs and progress.
• Plan a variety of activities considering culture, styles and special needs.
• Develop instructional activities that foster active student involvement.
• Plan lessons and strategies supporting school improvement goals.
• Select and adapt materials to address diverse learning needs.
• Establish a positive, safe learning environment and routines.
• Maintain organized learning spaces and manage time effectively.
• Use assessment data to guide instruction and monitor progress.
• Provide timely feedback to students and communicate progress to parents.
