Local Projects, a NYC-based design studio, seeks an Art Director: Media & VFX to lead teams across both physical and digital environments. The role emphasizes photoreal CG character and environmental development, immersive scenes, game engine workflows, and AV hardware systems within interactive narratives.

The candidate must bring hands-on 3D and game engine experience (Unity/Unreal), strong leadership, and a track record delivering high-end motion design with cross‑disciplinary collaboration

Qualifications

• Degree in Animation, Visual Effects, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 3-5 years as an Art Director or project lead in similar roles; total design experience 8-10 years.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical and creative design process with experimentation and iteration.
• Ensure ADA accessibility across physical environments.
• Communicate design concepts and technical requirements clearly to teams and clients.
• Translate strategies into actionable design direction with project leads.
• Coordinate dependencies within budget and production constraints.
• Lead design reviews and provide actionable feedback to team members.
• Stay current on industry practices and share advancements with the team.
