Art Director

Position Overview
The Art Director is responsible for developing designs and concepts across a wide range of media on multiple brands. This position reports to the Art Supervisor.

Specific Responsibilities

  1. Develop and oversee design and concepts as a brand lead
  2. Ensure all work is consistent with brand guidelines and strategy
  3. Present and communicate ideas clearly internally
  4. Establish and maintain high standards of reproduction for digital, print, audio/visual, and collateral materials
  5. Monitor the quality of finished art and conceptual materials produced by internal and freelance artists
  6. Provide guidance to graphic designers
  7. Advise creative leadership on departmental needs, including hardware/software upgrades and training
  8. Ensure efficient visual execution of creative concepts according to account responsibilities
  9. Collaborate with creative leadership and other agency teams to achieve objectives
  10. Identify and resolve factors creating crises, and minimize recurrence
  11. Meet deadlines or communicate proactively about any delays
  12. Maintain a list of freelance artists, web designers, stock houses, photographers, and vendors
  13. Engage in personal development to stay current in advertising
  14. Research clients’ businesses to better understand their needs

Requirements

  1. Bachelor of Fine Arts degree and at least 2 years of experience in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, preferably in pharmaceutical advertising
  2. Strong presentation and communication skills
  3. Supervisory, management, judgment, and decision-making skills
  4. Excellent design skills, including typography, color, photography, and art
  5. Passion for design and visual communication
  6. Knowledge of print and digital production
  7. Organizational and analytical skills
  8. Ability to multitask, handle stress, and meet deadlines
  9. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Acrobat, InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator), and understanding of Flash, HTML, and After Effects; also proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  10. Proficiency with Figma and AI tools

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000

The salary range applies to the NYC-hybrid position requiring occasional in-office presence. Salaries for other locations will be adjusted based on local market rates. Salary decisions consider experience, education, training, qualifications, and organizational needs. Salary is part of the total rewards package.
