Job summary

The Art and Technology Instructor role supports STEAM education for youths aged 5-12 at CPS schools and YMCA hubs in Chicago.

Responsibilities include planning and delivering STEAM activities, coordinating culturally relevant programs, and maintaining safety and equipment while engaging parents and guardians.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in STEAM education preferred.
• Minimum of 16 years of age or older.
• Ability to travel to different CPS schools and YMCA Hubs.
• Bachelor's degree in Education, Child Development, Recreation, or a related field required.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements STEAM programs in accordance with the goals and policies of the YMCA.
• Coordinates activities which are culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate.
• Teaches the fundamentals of specialty program areas by understanding the age and skill level of program participants.
• Supervises a group of youth to ensure their health, safety, and a positive experience for each participant.
• Communicates with and maintains a positive relationship with parents/guardians.
• Ensures all equipment is accounted for and maintained.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical situations, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Supports the mission and values of the YMCA and the STEAM portfolio.
