Job summary

The Block Institute in New York, NY is seeking a Direct Support Professional to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in living fulfilling, independent lives.

You will provide hands-on support with daily living activities, teach life skills, assist with medications, and accompany clients to appointments while documenting services and coordinating with the team. Training is provided and benefits are included.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• New York State Driver's License is required.
• Willingness to complete and maintain required certifications.
• Attendance at all scheduled trainings is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on support with activities of daily living (meals, dressing, hygiene, personal care).
• Teach and reinforce essential life skills such as cooking, shopping, and household tasks.
• Administer medications and assist with health routines (paid training provided).
• Accompany individuals to medical appointments and community outings.
• Encourage social engagement, independence, and participation in meaningful activities.
