The Line Cook role requires strong communication and culinary skills; prior hotel cooking experience and a culinary degree are preferred. The position focuses on single-station work with supervision and training as needed.

The Role

ArribaAbajo is a Cantina-themed Bar and Restaurant,, inside the Thompson and Tommie Austin, two premier lifestyle hotels in Downtown Austin – This new concept will open in early Spring to include 17,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor dining and lounge space, multiple venue’s for private events and the pool deck servicing hotel guests and Residents.

The Line Cookrequires good communication and culinary skills. The desired cook candidate will have hotel cooking experience and a culinary degree. A Line Cook should have a professional knowledge of cooking ingredients and procedures.The Line Cook will work single stations in the kitchen and require significant supervision and training.

In-depth skills and knowledge of all kitchen operations. Capable of producing a consistent product to meet and exceed guests' needs in a timely manner. On a daily basis must monitor food production, quality and consistency, staffing levels and department training. Skills and knowledge to include culinary education, cost control, communication skills, computer skills, organizational skills, guest contact experience and culinary teaching skills and knowledge.This person must be able to give direction in the hourly Sous' absence.

Both hotels are anchored on the ground floor by our re-imagined cantina-themed restaurant, a 13,000 sq ft. indoor and outdoor oasis as well as The 5th Street Diner + The Royal Room. a street-side concept serving daily fare for locals, residents, and guests alike. This mixed-use project will also feature a residential tower – Sienna – and 10,000 square feet of retail space and a 7,000 sq. ft. state of the art fitness center and simulator room, appropriately named the “T” Box.
