Job summary

Service Corporation International seeks a Funeral Arranger in Whittier, CA. You will coordinate mortuary and cemetery arrangements, ensure compliance, and provide compassionate service to families. Licensing preferences include Funeral Director or Notary with strong regulatory knowledge and sales aptitude.

You will train in Rose Hills processes, manage paperwork, and collaborate across departments while upholding company standards and a high level of professionalism.

Qualifications

  • Five years in mortuary/cemetery industry with funeral ceremony knowledge; three years arranging funerals preferred.
  • Licensed Funeral Director or notary exam pass preferred.
  • CFDA arranger tests or equivalent with 75%+ score.
  • Notary license required or to be obtained.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Professionalism, customer service, and willingness to help others.
  • Sales experience or strong customer service background.
  • Two years of college; AA degree preferred.
  • Bilingual is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Complete Rose Hills At-Need training with hands-on instruction and cross training.
  • Demonstrate depth of knowledge in products, policies, and regulations.
  • Complete funeral and cemetery arrangements with accuracy and compassion; manage case paperwork and follow-through.
  • Present and sell Rose Hills products and services per company objectives.
  • Maintain positive relationships with coworkers and cross-functional departments.
  • Support Rose Hills Family Service Program.
  • Show compassion, empathy, integrity, and willingness to help others.
  • Provide notary services for official documents in the arrangements process.
  • Adhere to dress code and department attire requests.
  • Keep supervisor informed of issues; take corrective action when needed.
  • Adhere to company policies, rules, and controls.
  • Follow safety rules and report unsafe practices.
  • Address customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolutions.
  • Adhere to attendance policy and report to work on time.

Meet with families and arrange for mortuary and cemetery goods and services required in final disposition.


Ensure that funeral arrangements are performed in a professional and courteous manner, and that they comply with Company policy and with state and federal regulations.


Essential Job Functions:

Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.



  • Successfully complete Rose Hills’ At-Need training program including trainer lead instruction, departmental cross training, observation of actual arrangement meetings, and hands on training.

  • Must demonstrate depth of knowledge in company products and services, company policies and procedures, and state and federal regulations.

  • Complete funeral and cemetery arrangements with a high level of accuracy and compassion and perform the necessary case management activities including, but not limited to, ensuring all case paperwork is complete and provided to appropriate departments, ensuring case instructions are clear and concise, and ensuring necessary follow through activities are performed timely.

  • Present and sell Rose Hills’ products and services in accordance with company objectives and maintain consistent product sales performance levels.

  • Maintain positive, professional working relationships with coworkers and cross-functional departments.

  • Support Rose Hills’ Family Service Program

  • Demonstrate a high level of compassion, empathy, integrity, and willingness to help others.

  • Provide notary services for official company documents and documents that require notary to complete the arrangements process

  • Abide by the Company dress code and any department requests regarding work attire.

  • Keep immediate supervisor promptly and fully informed of all problems and matters of significance and take prompt corrective action where necessary.

  • Adhere to Company policies, procedures, rules, and controls.

  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations, and report unsafe practices to management.

  • Act on customer complaints to provide satisfactory resolution.

  • Adhere to the attendance policy and report to work on time.


Experience and Education:


  • Five years’ experience in the mortuary/cemetery industry, with knowledge of funeral ceremonies and practices, including three years arranging funerals- preferred

  • Licensed Funeral Director (or pass the California Funeral Directors Exam) and/or licensed Embalmer, preferred

  • Must pass CFDA Arrangers Test or equivalent, and if necessary, complete an CFDA Funeral Arrangers Course or equivalent, and successfully pass the accompanying examination by a score of 75% or higher

  • Must pass exam to become a licensed notary

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • High level of professionalism, customer service, and willingness to help others

  • Professional sales and/or strong customer service background

  • Minimum of two years of college; or A.A. degree preferred

  • Bilingual a plus


Compensation:

$24.00/hr - $25.00/hr Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
