Job summary

The Building People, LLC is seeking a General Engineer to support the 81st U.S. Army Reserve Directorate of Public Works (DPW) in Columbia, South Carolina.

This position provides engineering, planning, and construction support for Army Reserve facilities and infrastructure programs that contribute to mission readiness. The General Engineer will work with Army Reserve personnel and multidisciplinary teams across planning, design, and execution phases, bringing expertise in construction methods,

Qualifications

• Engineering planning, design, and execution experience for infrastructure projects.
• Strong construction leadership experience recommended (Foreman/Superintendent/Construction Manager).
• Ability to coordinate with government personnel, contractors, and stakeholders.
• Willingness to travel for site assessments (approx. 15 site visits/year).

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and engineering support across planning, design, and execution phases of Army Reserve construction projects.
• Support ADP, Master Planning, and regional forecasting activities.
• Perform civil engineering analysis for roads, bridges, utilities, and facilities.
• Coordinate office planning with field-based construction oversight activities.
• Conduct field surveys, utility vault evaluations, and drawing verifications.
• Document field data supporting real property and facilities management requirements.
• Prepare technical reports, drawings, scopes of work, and engineering documentation.
• Review plans for compliance with Army standards, UFC, and codes.
• Support approximately six infrastructure projects annually.
• Prepare design packages and construction oversight reports.
• Travel to site assessments as needed and approved.
