Job summary

The Lockwood Group seeks a Software Testing and Deployment Engineer (Army C2) to support testing, deployment, fielding, and training of Army command and control software applications. You will coordinate with software development, testing, systems engineering, cybersecurity, logistics, and Government program teams to ensure deployments are validated and ready for operational use.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in systems engineering, software engineering, computer science, information technology, logistics, or a related technical discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in systems engineering, software testing, software deployment, release management, systems integration, technical training, or software fielding support.
• Familiarity with Army or Joint tactical software applications, software deployment platforms, production environments, endpoint or server-based installation processes, cloud or hybrid environments, and system integration dependencies.
• Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle, Agile and/or DevSecOps practices, configuration management, and release-management principles.
• Experience with modern deployment technologies and environments, including Linux/Unix operating systems, virtualization (VMware, KVM), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and Infrastructure as Code (Ansible, Terraform).
• Demonstrated experience supporting software test events, defect tracking, deployment preparation, software installation, production releases, or operational rollout activities.

Responsibilities

• Support planning, execution, documentation, and tracking of software test activities across functional, integration, regression, user acceptance, and operational tests.
• Evaluate software releases for deployment readiness by verifying test evidence, defect resolution, baselines, and cybersecurity artifacts with Government stakeholders.
• Support release-management activities including version control, deployment scheduling, and post-deployment verification.
• Assist with troubleshooting software installation, configuration, integration, interoperability, and performance issues; analyze test results and user feedback to identify defects and risks; report findings and actions to Government stakeholders.
• Coordinate with program G4, G6, and operational stakeholders to identify fielding requirements, dependencies, and site-readiness criteria.
• Develop and maintain fielding plans, deployment schedules, software distribution packages, installation instructions, and acceptance-support documentation.
• Participate in fielding coordination meetings, IPTs, TWIs, site surveys, deployment events, and after-action reviews.
• Identify fielding lessons learned and recommend improvements to deployment processes and training programs.
