Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols of the processing center exterior perimeters and access points.
• Control access to the facility, allowing only authorized personnel and visitors.
• Operate surveillance cameras, access controls and comms equipment; report anomalies.
• Respond to emergencies or breaches, assist with de-escalation as needed.
• Conduct vehicle, package and person searches per protocols.
• Support secure movement of residents with vigilance and procedures.
• Prepare detailed incident and activity reports for management.
• Maintain firearms and equipment proficiency per training requirements.
• Collaborate with processing staff to ensure a secure environment.

POSITION SUMMARY INFORMATION: DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS

Position Overview:In this role, you will maintain a vigilant presence to ensure the safety and integrity of the immigration processing and custodial facility. Your primary focus is securing the external perimeter and internal facility, monitoring for unauthorized access, and enforcing strict protocols. You must possess sharp observational skills and the ability to respond decisively to security breaches or critical incidents to maintain a secure environment.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct regular patrols of the processing center's external perimeters, including buildings, grounds, and access points.
• Monitor and control access to the processing center, ensuring only authorized personnel and visitors enter.
• Operate and monitor security equipment, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, and communication devices, reporting any suspicious activity or breaches to processing staff.
• Respond promptly and effectively to emergencies, disturbances, or security breaches, working in conjunction with processing staff to de-escalate situations and, if necessary, assist with approved physical interventions.
• Perform thorough searches of vehicles, packages, and individuals entering or exiting the center as per established protocols.
• Assist processing staff with the secure movement of residents within the center, maintaining constant vigilance and adherence to established procedures.
• Prepare detailed and accurate reports on incidents, observations, and daily security activities.
• Maintain proficiency in the use of assigned firearms and other security equipment, adhering to all training and qualification requirements.
• Collaborate closely with processing staff and other relevant personnel to ensure a secure and orderly environment.

Qualifications:

• Must possess an active Texas Armed Security/Level III License.
• Minimum of one (1) year of experience in private security, law enforcement, or military.
• Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization.
• If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition.
• Must consent to fingerprinting.
• Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English proficiently.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening.
• Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening.
• Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills.
• Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations.
• Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise.

Physical Requirements:

Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
