Job summary

Savage III, Inc. is seeking an Armed Security Guard for Sacramento with military preference. The role requires enforcing railroad safety policies, inspecting containers, and deterring theft on intermodal ramps. Immediate hire with full-time shifts.

Ideal candidates have military or law enforcement background and hold a BSIS Guard Card along with an Exposed Firearm Permit; additional training such as CPR is a plus. Local candidates preferred for 8-hour shift schedules.

Qualifications

• Armed security experience in high-risk environments.
• Military background is preferred but not required.
• Valid and current Driver's License is required.
• BSIS Guard Card and BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit are required.
• CPR/First Responder training is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
• Inspect containers and trailers for seal discrepancies.
• Inspect inbound and outbound container trains for missing seals and trespassers.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Enforce Railroad Safety Policies.
• Assist Railroadpolicein case of a problem.
• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
• Inspect containers and trailers for any seal exceptions or other discrepancies.
• In case any loaded container or a trailer found without a seal, Security will notify Railroad Police.
• Inspect Inbound and Outbound container trains for missing seals, open container/trailer doors and trespassers.
• Stop and identify all non-employees and all private vehicles driving on the Intermodal Ramp and right of way.
• Deter theft of the company and employee’s property.
• Inspect High Value Shipments.
• Patrol perimeter fences to detect damage and inspect all gates to make sure that they are locked.
• Escort and inspect all inbound trains upon arrival.
• Conduct foot patrol of designated lots as directed.
• Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Military experience (preferred butnot required)
• Extensive experience in armed security, with a focus on high-end environments
• Background in military or law enforcement is desirable
• Valid and current

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills – Bilingual is a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time.
• Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards.
• Basic computer knowledge – i.e.: typing reports, operating basic gate functionality, Word.
• Crowd Management techniques
• Individual Client needs/Sensitivities
• Emergency Egress and evacuation procedures
• Conflict resolution /de-escalation techniques
• VIP Protocol and confidentiality
• Public relations awareness

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%* of the time
• Regularly required to drive,stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundings
• Frequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment
• May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions including severe conditions as seasons dictate
