Job summary

Savage III, Inc. is seeking an Armed Security Specialist at our Fresno location. Full-time role with 8-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 3:00 PM) and $21–$24 per hour pay.

Prior military or law enforcement background is desirable; BSIS credentials are preferred. Responsibilities include enforcing railroad safety and inspecting containers, with emphasis on deterring theft and ensuring perimeter security. Qualifications

• Military experience (preferred but not required).
• Extensive experience in armed security, with a focus on high-end environments.
• Background in military or law enforcement is desirable.
• Valid and current Driver's License; BSIS Guard Card; BSIS Exposed Firearm Permit; 40-hr Security Guard Training; Power to Arrest and Terrorism Training; CPR/First Responder training (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Enforce Railroad Safety Policies.
• Assist Railroad police in case of a problem.
• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
• Inspect containers and trailers for any seal exceptions or other discrepancies.
• In case any loaded container or a trailer found without a seal, Security will notify Railroad Police.
• Inspect Inbound and Outbound container trains for missing seals, open container/trailer doors and trespassers.
• Stop and identify all non-employees and all private vehicles driving on the Intermodal Ramp and right of way.
• Deter theft of the company and employee's property.
• Inspect High Value Shipments.
• Patrol perimeter fences to detect damage and inspect all gates to make sure that they are locked.
• Escort and inspect all inbound trains upon arrival.
• Conduct foot patrol of designated lots as directed.
• Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills – Bilingual is a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time.
• Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards.
• Basic computer knowledge – i.e.: typing reports, operating basic gate functionality, Word.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%* of the time
• Regularly required to drive,stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundingsFrequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment
• May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions including severe conditions as seasons dictate
