Job summary

Southern Company seeks an NERC CIP Armed Security Operator to protect personnel, assets and critical systems across the BES footprint in the Southeast. Staff assignments include the West Physical Security Operations Center and armed security at Corporate Headquarters, using video surveillance, intrusion alarms and access control monitoring.

Candidates must meet strict prerequisites, including age, testing, and firearms qualifications; prior law enforcement or security experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/Associates degree preferred or equivalent.
• Training certification reflecting industry standards.
• Available to work shifts, holidays, overtime.
• Minimum 3 years of security experience preferred.
• Must pass psychological, drug tests, annual firearms qualifications.
• Must qualify for firearm use and re-qualify annually.
• Must qualify for and obtain a valid state firearm permit and driver’s license.
• Must be at least 21 years old.

Responsibilities

• Monitor video surveillance, access control, and intrusion alarms across PSPs.
• Determine response priorities and document incidents; coordinate with WPSOC.
• Dispatch per procedures; coordinate with WPSOC Supervisor.
• Maintain security policies, procedures, and records; ensure compliance.
• Provide armed security at Corporate Headquarters and protect BES assets.
