Job summary

Allied Universal is seeking a part-time Armed Security Officer at San Felipe St in Houston, TX. This role offers fixed shift hours and the opportunity to pick up additional shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to earn more while building experience with an industry leader.

The position requires 3+ years in law enforcement, corrections, or military (or 5+ years armed security), a Texas Level III Armed Certification, a valid driver’s license, and being 21+.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years combined law enforcement, corrections, or military experience, or 5+ years armed security.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and Texas Level III Armed Certification.
• Be at least 21 years of age; pass background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to store associates, customers, and visitors while carrying out security-related procedures and emergency response activities.
• Perform armed patrols in retail areas, parking lots, loading areas, and perimeters to deter unauthorized activity.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations calmly and professionally.
• Monitor access points and report suspicious behavior, hazards, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Complete accurate activity reports, incident documentation, and shift communications.

How This Role Works

• Fixed-Shift Commitment (“Anchor Shifts”): You will be hired for a designated site and weekly shift that serves as your reliable base schedule. This assignment requires a six (6) month commitment.
• Earn More, Claim‑A‑Shift Program: In addition to your fixed shift, you may pick‑up extra shifts through our scheduling platform, allowing you to increase earnings and gain experience across multiple sites. Work part‑time hours this week and full‑time the next. It’s all up to you.

This role is ideal for candidates seeking part‑time employment with flexibility, income stability, and opportunities to build‑up to a full‑time schedule of up to 40 hours per week; always with the option to scale back when needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service to store associates, customers, and visitors while carrying out security‑related procedures, site‑specific policies, and emergency response activities as appropriate.
• Perform armed patrols throughout retail sales areas, parking lots, loading areas, and the surrounding perimeter to help deter unauthorized activity and identify potential concerns.
• Respond to incidents, alarms, disturbances, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem‑solving manner, following site procedures and applicable laws.
• Monitor access points, observe customer and employee activity, and report suspicious behavior, hazards, or policy violations to appropriate personnel.
• Complete accurate activity reports, incident documentation, and shift communications in accordance with Allied Universal and site‑specific requirements.

Minimum Requirements

• Have at least 3 years of combined law enforcement, corrections, or military experience, or at least 5 years of armed security experience.
• A valid driver’s license is required in accordance with Allied Universal driver policy requirements.
• Possess a Level III Armed Certification in Texas.
• Be at least 21 years of age for armed roles.
• Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
• Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
• As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
• Participate in industry‑specific security training programs.
• Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
• A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
