Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Able to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Hold, or be able to obtain, a Louisiana LSBPSE armed security officer registration.
• Complete firearms training and qualify with a company-issued 9mm handgun (80% minimum).
• Pass a psychological assessment.
• Pass a background investigation, including federal and state criminal searches and federal exclusion-list checks.
• Pass a 10-panel drug screen.
• Legally authorized to work in the U.S. (E-Verify).

Responsibilities

• Verify identity of employees and visitors, print the correct badge, and check visitors in through the Visitor Management system.
• Monitor and respond to alarms within BCBSLA response times.
• Patrol buildings, parking areas and garages; secure doors, gates and windows.
• Act as first responder in emergencies and coordinate with police, fire and EMS.
• Enforce post orders and BCBSLA policies.
• Operate cameras, access control systems, radios and phones.
• Investigate and report unusual conditions; write accurate daily activity and incident reports.
• Escort associates to vehicles in low-light conditions; perform traffic control as needed.
• Keep a professional, courteous presence in lobbies and reception areas.
