Job Summary

Perform as a team member on assigned security team demonstrating teamwork and cooperation. Maintain a working knowledge of plant and security procedures, contingency plans, and NRC requirements related to armed security duties.

Please note: Cook Nuclear Plant is recruiting for 6 Armed Security Officers to start as soon as possible.

Job Description

• Perform security duties related to access control of controlled areas, entrance gate duties, protected and vital area access control, personnel and vehicle searches, escort duties, monitor watch, operability testing of security equipment, and other related security duties, following applicable procedures.
• Maintain operability of security and contingency equipment.
• Maintain knowledge and operability of weapons and related equipment.
• Investigate and report violations of security procedures, abnormal conditions, and irregularities. Respond to alarms, assess situations, and take appropriate measures.
• Maintain logs and documentation.
• Assist in testing security barriers and systems to ensure operability and compliance with NRC and plant requirements.

Minimum Requirements

Education:

• High school diploma/GED.

Work Experience:

• At least 1 year experience in military, law enforcement, or security, OR
• 2 years of nuclear industry experience within the Protected Area.

Other Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years old in accordance with State Security Guard Licensing and 10CFR73, App B.
• Must meet all security plans, training, and qualification requirements.
• Must pass medical, psychological, and physical agility tests.
• Ability to work safely in a nuclear, industrial, and radiological environment.
• Availability for various shifts, including weekends and holidays, on short notice.

Physical Demands

• Carry up to 50 lbs. of duty gear.
• Walk, run, climb stairs and ladders.
• Respond to stressful and adverse conditions.
• Qualify on and wear a respirator.
• Work in various weather conditions.

Must establish and maintain residence within a 45-minute drive to the D.C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant.

Compensation

Grade: N006-850

Range: $25.93 - $29.63 USD

The physical demand level for this job is Heavy Work, requiring exertion of 50-100 lbs. occasionally, 25-50 lbs. frequently, and greater than negligible up to 10-20 lbs. constantly.
