Job summary

Savage III, Inc. is seeking multiple Security Officers for a seasonal railroad security contract in Riverside, CA. Shifts are 12 hours, seven days a week, with weekdays/weekends availability required.

Start dates vary; candidates should be prepared to begin promptly as staffing is scheduled. This is a seasonal assignment through January 15, with potential extension based on operations. Pay rate is $25 per hour.

Qualifications

• Military experience preferred; not required.
• Extensive experience in high end security and law enforcement.
• BSIS Guard Card and related certifications are required or preferred.

Responsibilities

• Enforce RailroadSafety Policies.
• Assist Railroad police in case of a problem.
• Deter and detect burglaries of loaded containers.
• Inspect containers and trailers for seal exceptions or other discrepancies.
• Notify Railroad Police for any loaded container or trailer without a seal.
• Inspect inbound/outbound trains for missing seals and trespassers.
• Stop and identify non-employees and private vehicles on the Intermodal Ramp.
• Deter theft of company and employee property.
• Inspect High Value Shipments.
• Patrol perimeter fences and ensure gates are locked.
• Escort and inspect inbound trains on arrival.
• Conduct foot patrols and request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.

SEASONAL CONTRACT – MULTIPLE OPENINGS – 12-HOUR SHIFTS

Savage III, Inc. is currently hiring multiple Security Officers to support a seasonal railroad security contract operating seven days a week.

Current Shift Needs:

• Night Shift: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• 12-hour shifts
• Weekday and weekend availability needed
• Priority consideration will be given to candidates with weekend availability
• Multiple positions available
• Hiring for positions to start as soon as operationally scheduled

This is a seasonal contract currently anticipated to run through January 15. The contract and/or individual assignments may be extended based on operational needs.

Candidates selected for these positions should be prepared to begin work as soon as staffing operations commence. The official start date will be communicated to selected candidates once it has been confirmed.

Job Summary

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Stop and identify all non-employees and all private vehicles driving on the Intermodal Ramp and right of way.
• Deter theft of the company and employee’s property.
• Inspect High Value Shipments.
• Patrol perimeter fences to detect damage and inspect all gates to make sure that they are locked.
• Escort and inspect all inbound trains upon arrival
• Conduct foot patrol of designated lots as directed.
• Request emergency personnel for high-risk situations.

Position Requirements

Qualifications:

• Military experience preferred; NOT REQUIRED

  • 40-hr Security Guard Training
  • Power to Arrest and Terrorism Training

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Excellent English verbal, comprehension, and written skills – Bilingual is a plus.
• Access to reliable transportation with the ability to arrive to work on time.
• Ability to arrive groomed, clean, dressed and pressed in accordance with uniform standards.
• Basic computer knowledge – i.e.: typing reports, operating basic gate functionality, Word.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50%* of the time
• Regularly required to drive,stand, walk, talk, hear, and see (using near vision, far vision, and peripheral vision) to identify and address potential threats or safety concerns
• Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or sit while remaining alert to surroundingsFrequently required to use hands or reach with hands and arms at, above, or below shoulder level for various reasons, including detainment
• May occasionally require lifting, pushing, pulling up to 25 pounds
• Regularly works in outdoor weather conditions including severe conditions as seasons dictate
