Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a medical exam by a licensed professional.
• Pass a psychological test by a licensed professional.
• Must satisfy agency firearms qualification during DCSO firearms training.
• For NCIC access, background check must meet TBI approval. You must also submit proof of citizenship and proof of education.

Responsibilities

• Dispatches and logs all radio transmissions.
• Answers various inquiries from the public.
• Enters appropriate data into the computer system.
• Controls the admittance of persons or vehicles at the Training Academy.
• Maintains security presence to ensure areas are clear of obstructions and loiterers.
• Maintains order and calls for police assistance as needed.
• Carries firearms and attends in-service training programs.
• Operates security devices such as radios, handcuffs, chemical weapons.
• May provide escort to visitors or employees to unlit areas of the property.
• Responds to emergencies and prepares incident reports.
