Denver Public Schools is seeking an armed and uniformed security patrol officer to safeguard students, staff and visitors across all district schools and facilities. The role includes patrols, post duties, investigations, and enforcing laws and district policies.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required or preferred; POST certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses and troubleshoots escalated problems and applies expert understanding to resolve complex challenges.
• Identifies opportunities for improvement, prioritizes, and recommends solutions to management.
• Conducts security patrols of all District schools and facilities as assigned; provides stationary security post duties as assigned.
• Responds to all calls and conducts investigations of security matters.
• Enforces all School District rules and regulations as well as local, state, and federal laws and ordinances on District properties.
• Apprehends and detains persons suspected of criminal activity on District properties within state, federal, and local regulations.
• Exercises proper care and maintenance of all District owned or leased equipment, including vehicles assigned to or utilized for duty.
• Ensures the maintenance and good working order of District authorized firearms and maintains a high level of proficiency in the proper use of authorized weapons.
