Job summary

Colonial Williamsburg Foundation seeks a Public Safety Patrol Sergeant (Armed Special Conservator of the Peace) to patrol properties, respond to emergencies, supervise officers, and ensure safety. You will perform routine patrols, investigations, and security assessments, while coordinating with outside agencies.

Must meet education/experience requirements, maintain CPR/First Aid credentials, and be able to work irregular hours, holidays, and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have completed high school/GED plus two years of experience as a CWF Public Safety Patrol Officer or one year of experience as a CWF Public Safety Corporal.
• Must have excellent public contact skills, including the ability to deal with people under stressful circumstances.
• Must have excellent communications skills.
• Must be able to read, write and prepare reports using a computer.
• Must be able to qualify annually in CPR, first aid and the use of an AED.
• Must be able to work irregular/extended work hours (including frequently fluctuating work hours and rotating shift work).

Responsibilities

• Perform routine patrol activities to include all duties required as a Special Conservator of the Peace.
• Conduct routine patrols and inspections of Colonial Williamsburg properties.
• Monitor safety conditions and document deficiencies to management.
• Respond to emergencies and coordinate with outside responders.
• Supervise daily activities of Public Safety Officers in the absence of the Master Sergeant.
• Conduct security assessments and maintain order on foundation properties.
• Operate communications center functions: receive calls, dispatch units, monitor alarms and CCTV.
• Conduct follow-up investigations and document actions.
