Job summary

UChicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital in the greater Chicagoland area is seeking a Public Safety Supervisor (Lieutenant) to oversee daily operations of the Public Safety Department and supervise staff, ensuring a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. This 100% onsite role requires uniformed service and shift coverage.

The position carries responsibilities including training, incident review, system maintenance, and compliance with licensing and FEMA/IAHSS certifications.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate's degree in criminal justice or related field is preferred.
• 1-3 years healthcare security/public safety leadership experience required.
• State of Illinois 40-hour armed security officer certification required.
• Must obtain CHSS and FEMA IC courses within six months.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Public Safety Department.
• Supervise staff, create work schedules, and respond to incidents.
• Maintain licensing, training, and certifications for staff.
• Provide basic emergency medical assistance (CPR, tourniquet).
• Participate in Emergency Management and Environment of Care Committees.
