Job summary

BTI Security in Huntsville, AL is seeking an armed security professional to protect principals and property on federal buildings and federally contracted sites.

You will monitor surveillance, conduct security checks, and prepare detailed incident reports, coordinating with supervision. Must meet eligibility, speak English, and be able to qualify with firearms. This is a full-time, on-site role with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in security (armed) or one (1) year of law enforcement in a full-duty status.
  • Be a United States citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident with military discharge or equivalent.
  • Must possess strong knowledge of the security industry.

Responsibilities

  • Protect the principal against possible threats.
  • Federal building access control, employee and visitor identification checks, security equipment monitoring, roving patrols of federal property.
  • Monitoring surveillance cameras for disruptions or unlawful activities.
  • Providing detailed reports on daily activities and incidents.
  • Knowledgeable and able to use magnetometer and X-ray machines.
  • Using two-way radios in a clear and concise manner.
  • Emergency response and CPR/First Aid when needed.

  • Using provided communication devices such as two-way radios in a clear and concise manner
  • Leverages excellent listening and service skills in emergency response and evaluation procedures
  • Performing CPR or first aid when needed
  • Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements
  • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Must be able to obtain suitability and/or clearance.
  • Be a United States citizen; or a Lawful Permanent Resident who is currently a member of, or who possesses a verifiable honorable discharge from, any component of the United States Armed Forces (Army, Air Force, Navy, Marines, Coast Guard)
  • Been issued a Social Security Card by the Social Security Administration, which bears the individuals name and social security number
  • A minimum of two (2) years of experience security (armed) experience or one (1) year of law enforcement experience in a full-duty status with a full-service police department in a municipality, state, or federal law enforcement department within the US.
  • A minimum of two (2) years as a member of any US Armed Forces with an honorable discharge
  • Must be able to fluently speak, read, comprehend English, and be able to compose written reports in English.
  • Must be able to qualify with a revolver or semi-automatic
  • Must possess strong relevant knowledge of the security industry.
  • Be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must have a customer service-driven mindset
  • Ability to communicate effectively and present information to all levels of internal and external customers

Physical Demands
  • PSO’s shall be physically able to perform tasks in performance of assigned duties
  • Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12hours pr day, either indoors or outdoors
  • Frequent contact with general public, law enforcement, and dispatch center, requiring an ability to speak clearly and distinctly and remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to remain on post up to four (4) consecutive hours without sitting, eating or receiving a break
  • Ability to remain alert for up to 12hours, with ability to mentally and physically react quickly to a variety of unexpected and dangerous situations
  • Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent or disturbed individuals, or intervene in a crisis
  • Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy weights, moving heavy object, climbing stairs
