Job summary

OhioHealth, a respected health system in Ohio, is seeking an Armed Security Officer to help maintain a safe environment across hospital facilities and off-campus sites. You will patrol, respond to incidents, and assist with investigations while rotating through care sites during training.

During initial training you may rotate; after training you’ll be assigned to a home site with possible float support as needed. Strong communication and vigilance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School or GED is required.
• BLS - Basic Life Support, American Heart Association.
• Valid drivers license (DL) required.
• OPOTC certification or firearms certification / basic training.
• Basic computer skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Must be mentally and physically capable to complete training and maintain certification.
• Work Shift: Variable.
• Scheduled Weekly Hours: 36.
• Department Protective Services.

Responsibilities

• Provides armed safety and security services in hospital areas and grounds; patrols the hospital, parking areas, and off-site locations to observe, protect, and assist as needed.
• Observes, corrects, reports, and documents incidents of risk-related situations to management.
• Identifies, reports, and corrects security and safety breaches.
• Conducts and assists in investigations of criminal and administrative incidents.
• Handles valuable items as needed.
• Assists with violent or potentially violent patients, visitors, and staff when called throughout the hospital.
• Enforces Hospital Policy; serves as a first responder to emergencies; foot patrol of hospital and campus; mobile patrol of parking areas and off-site locations.
• Observes, corrects, reports, and documents incidents to management; identifies, reports, and corrects security breaches.
• Works independently to determine the correct response to situations.
• Conducts and assists in investigations; participates in the hospital lost and found program.
• Assists in Emergency Department, Behavioral Health Unit, and other areas.
• Enforces and implements hospital security/safety policies.
• Assists in hospital control center and other areas during breaks or staffing shortages.
• Controls access and monitors security of drugs in hospital pharmacies.
• Assists patients and visitors with automobile difficulties.
• Investigates narcotic alarms, losses, and discrepancies.
