County of St. Clair seeks a Bailiff to provide armed court security and enforce courtroom order at Port Huron and Marine City locations. The role includes screening entrants, arresting individuals with warrants, and assisting transport deputies while maintaining safety for the public, judges and staff.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, 1–3 years in law enforcement or security, and knowledge of x-ray and metal detection equipment. Prior police officer status is preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Associate degree in Criminal Justice preferred.
• 1–3 years in law enforcement or security, or military service required; court experience preferred.
• Certified police officer with prior law enforcement experience preferred.
• Must know how to operate x-ray and metal detection equipment.
• Strong writing, reading and math skills; proficient with Microsoft Office and Outlook.

Responsabilités

• Screen entrants and confiscate prohibited items.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of court equipment used in weapon screening.
• Diffuse potentially dangerous situations using observation skills.
• Enforce courtroom rules and maintain order.
• Use verbal commands and physical force as needed to restrain individuals.
• Respond to incidents and emergencies in the court building.
• Document incidents and prepare reports.
• Assist in transporting and custody of prisoners when required.
• Prepare court schedules and call court to order.
• Arrest individuals with outstanding warrants or as directed by a Judge.
