Job summary

Achieve Community Alliance is seeking a Direct Support Worker to provide daily living care for individuals in Little Rock, AR. You will assist with showers, feeding, dressing, and transportation as needed, while promoting independence and community integration.

You will monitor ADLs/IADLs, document progress, and maintain confidentiality. Training on IHP and behavior plans is provided, with emphasis on safety and respectful care in a dynamic home setting.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of household and money management skills.
• Knowledge of basic nutrition and meal planning.
• Knowledge of customer personal care i.e. feeding, bathing and dressing.
• Ability to recognize customer’s health needs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, individuals, parents, regulatory agencies and the general public.

Responsibilities

• Ensure adequate daily living care for the individual.
• Provide an integrated life experience approach (Normalization) to help the individual live as independently as possible.
• Assist/monitor/teach daily living skills (ADLs) and instrumental ADLs (IADLs).
• Encourage behavior appropriate to living arrangement and community environment.
• Maintain confidentiality of all customer and program files and reports.
• Complete required written documentation and verbal reports to exchange daily information.
• Assist customers with self-medication skills in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act.
• Align interactions with IHP, Positive Behavior Plan and Person Center Plan; provide choices for daily living and future goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
