Job summary

Spencer Ogden partners with an established heavy civil contractor in Arizona to hire an experienced Estimator for the Water/Wastewater construction team. The role covers municipal water, wastewater and infrastructure projects statewide, with a focus on developing accurate estimates from plans and specifications and coordinating with project teams, subs and suppliers during bidding.

You will prepare detailed cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment and subcontractors; perform quantity

Qualifications

• 5+ years of estimating or related heavy civil construction experience.
• Experience within water, wastewater, wet utilities, underground utilities or municipal infrastructure.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specifications.
• Strong understanding of subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred, related experience also considered.

Responsibilities

• Prepare detailed estimates covering labor, materials, equipment and subcontractor costs.
• Review plans, specifications and bid documents to determine project scope.
• Complete quantity takeoffs and develop pricing for civil construction activities.
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Develop labor and equipment production assumptions.
• Review historical project costs and bid-versus-actual performance, identify risks and constructability concerns.
• Visit project sites as required during estimating.
• Support bid reviews, presentations and contractor/client discussions.
• Work closely with operations and project management during handover.
