Job summary

The Lakefront Management Authority seeks an ARFF fireman to join its public safety team in New Orleans. The role emphasizes rapid incident response, aircraft fire suppression, and coordination with air traffic control during emergencies.

As part of the Lakefront Management Authority, you will respond to incidents within a limited area, operate firefighting vehicles, provide first aid, and maintain ARFF certification through annual training.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in fire prevention or fire suppression as a firefighter, OR
• Military service in any capacity plus six months of experience in fire prevention or fire suppression as a firefighter.

Responsibilities

• Respond to a wide variety of emergencies during tour of duty.
• Communicate with the air traffic control tower for incident response.
• Monitor multiple radio frequencies, alarm systems, and transmitters and initiate proper response.
• Coordinate with non-emergency lines and forward information as needed during operations.
• Operate firefighting vehicles and deploy equipment at emergency scenes (aircraft, structural, vehicle fires).
• Provide emergency first aid and basic life support within a limited area per local EMS protocols.
• Respond to hazardous materials events and assist other agencies under Mutual Aid.
• Attend FAA-approved rescue and firefighting training annually and complete at least one live burn per year.
