Job summary

McEntire JNGS Fire Department in South Carolina seeks a firefighter for on-site emergency response and prevention duties. You will respond to aircraft, structural, vehicular, medical, and other incidents, while maintaining equipment and complying with NFPA standards.

The role requires NFPA 1001/NAHB certifications, a valid SC driver’s license, and the ability to complete on-boarding certifications within 12 months. Benefits include health, retirement, and paid leave options.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Must possess and maintain a current State driver’s license.
• Meet NFPA 1001 Firefighter I/II; Driver/Operator ARFF, Pumper, Mobile Water Supply and NFPA 1072 HAZMAT Awareness/Operations; Telecommunicator I/II; NREMR ARFF within 12 months of employment.
• Annual medical examination per NFPA 1582 standards for firefighters.
• Background and license checks with potential recalls as required.

Responsibilities

• Maintains 24-hour response capability to all emergency calls for aircraft, structural, vehicular, medical and other.
• Protects evidence and performs salvage and overhaul of the fire scene.
• Performs fire control center duties and communicates with fire department personnel and other agencies.
• Performs fire prevention inspections of base facilities and compliance checks.
• Operates and maintains assigned vehicles and equipment; performs basic maintenance and corrosion control.
• Follows safety and housekeeping policies and maintains readiness for all shifts.
