Job summary

McEntire JNGS Fire Department in South Carolina seeks a Firefighter Lieutenant to lead firefighting operations and training efforts on a 24/7 basis. You will supervise crew readiness, perform incident analyses, and ensure equipment is ready for rapid response on runways and in facilities.

The role requires NFPA certifications (1001/1072), a high school diploma or GED, medical clearance, and the ability to pass background checks and physical standards.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
• Must meet NFPA 1001 Firefighter I/II and NFPA 1072 Hazmat Awareness/Operations/Technician requirements.
• Annual medical examination to NFPA 1582 standards applicable to firefighters.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 24-hour response capability to emergency calls (aircraft, structural, vehicular, medical).
• Supervise incident response and shift training; conduct CFETP-aligned training plans.
• Operate and maintain firefighting vehicles and equipment; supervise inventory and cleaning of response apparatus.
• Coordinate safety education and pre-incident planning; perform hazard analysis and lessons-learned reviews.
