Job summary

State Farm Arena in Atlanta, GA seeks a Staff Accountant to support the month-end close across consolidated entities (the Atlanta Hawks, State Farm Arena, College Park Skyhawks) through accurate journal entry preparation, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis.

You will manage multi-element revenue recognition, arena expenses, fixed assets, and prepaid schedules, ensuring timely close deliverables and proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 2–4 years of accounting experience, including exposure to general ledger and month-end close processes.
• Experience with journal entry preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Experience in multi-entity accounting revenue and expense environments (intercompany transactions) and multi-element revenue structures.
• Working knowledge of fixed asset accounting (additions, disposals, transfers, depreciation).
• CPA candidate or progress toward CPA licensure preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and record monthly journal entries related to complex multi-element revenue and event-related expenses across all consolidated entities.
• Perform balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts monthly and resolve reconciling items.
• Maintain fixed asset register including additions, disposals, transfers, and depreciation.
• Prepare and record prepaid expense amortization schedules.
• Process and review vendor bills for correct classification before posting.
• Provide variance analyses and supporting schedules for management.
• Collaborate with operations and finance to ensure accurate reporting and tax support.
