GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store and the general operations when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the store, supervise associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. Responsibilities include merchandise presentation, maintaining cleanliness, and executing operational processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and other security measures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, report accidents, and handle emergencies.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates’ efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand consistently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure associates do the same.
- Keep all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
- Receive merchandise and process it with urgency.
- Manage inbound deliveries and organize stockrooms.
- Assist with merchandise placement and back-stock management.
- Reduce loss due to damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Handle floor moves, signing, and re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and engage with customers and associates.
- Demonstrate integrity and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Maximize productivity and minimize steps and touches.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards, manage lines, and expedite customer service.
- Train and coach associates on POS and policies.
- Control break schedules, equipment, and supplies.
- Ensure merchandise is properly scanned, security tagged, and ticketed.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit and account for garments and ensure return procedures are followed.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
- Manage payroll activities and other duties assigned by the store manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Fluency in English
- Customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail associates and stockroom leads (if applicable).
