General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store, overseeing general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and keeping the work area clean. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including managing entrances/exits, EAS devices, security, and alarm systems.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, report accidents, and manage emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Respect all Customers, Associates, and leaders.
- Display courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates' efforts.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance; ensure Associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Manage daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, markdowns, and merchandise processing meet standards.
- Assist with receiving merchandise and back-stock organization.
- Help with merchandise placement and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a strong presence on the sales floor.
- Safeguard confidential information and merchandise.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct inspections.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards and expedite customer lines.
- Train and coach Associates on cash register operations and policies.
- Manage equipment, supplies, and merchandise flow at the front end.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Ensure proper tagging and return of merchandise.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll administration.
- Follow policies on refunds, tills, and schedules.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication skills in English.
- Prior customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills for retail.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk extensively, and lift up to 25 lbs (or more for stockroom roles).
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervises Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
