General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific, assigned area of the Store as well as the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. Area Supervisors are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy to shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, and maintain a clean work area at all times. Area Supervisors are also responsible for executing and supervising Company operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Understand that safety is the number one priority and practice safe behaviors in everything they do.
- Maintain a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment for everyone. Immediately correct or report any unsafe conditions or practices to Store Leadership.
- Be responsible for security of the building including entrance/exit control, Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) devices daily function check, Cash Office security, armored carrier pick-ups, and register area.
- Remove clutter and ensure safe, clear egress to emergency exits.
- Be responsible for Customer safety including accident prevention, accident reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test all fire alarm systems as scheduled. Respond to after-hours alarms when requested.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and other leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates using Company recognition programs.
Personal and Store Brand
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance, in accordance with Company Dress Code. Ensure all Associates adhere to the Company Dress Code at all times.
- Keep all areas of the Store clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Be responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed to Company standards through teaching, assigning tasks, and following up per Company best practice.
- Be responsible for receiving merchandise truck when needed.
- Process all merchandise with a sense of urgency.
- Be responsible for receipt of all non-merchandise inbound deliveries.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of all Stockrooms.
- Assist in delivering and placing merchandise on the sales floor when processed.
- Ensure back-stock is secured and processed according to Company policy.
- Merchandise the department including back stock.
- Reduce loss due to damage.
- Ensure compliance to monthly presentation guidelines in assigned area.
- Manage floor moves and signing including promotional signage.
- Perform re-wraps as needed.
Loss Prevention
- Understand and comply with Loss Prevention programs. Be responsible for Store Loss Prevention including maintaining a high customer service presence on the sales floor, engaging with Customers and Associates, and increasing Loss Prevention awareness.
- Demonstrate integrity and honesty in all interactions. Safeguard confidential information, cash, credit card information, and merchandise.
