GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the store, overseeing general operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They handle opening and closing the store, supervising associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and maintaining cleanliness. They also execute company operational processes as needed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; report unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, cash office security, and managing armored carrier pickups.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear emergency exits.
- Manage customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms after hours.
Customer Service:
- Treat all customers, associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize associates appropriately.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the company brand at all times.
- Maintain professional appearance per dress code.
- Keep all store areas clean and well-maintained.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through training and supervision.
- Receive merchandise trucks when needed.
- Process merchandise promptly.
- Manage inbound deliveries and organize stockrooms.
- Assist in merchandising and back-stock management.
- Reduce merchandise damage and ensure compliance with presentation guidelines.
- Handle floor moves and signage, including promotional displays.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a high customer service presence, and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement company best practices to maximize productivity and minimize theft.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end standards and efficiency, manage customer lines, and train associates on POS and policies.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of fitting rooms.
- Audit and manage returned merchandise according to policy.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, and payroll tasks as assigned.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Store Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:
Must be able to use store equipment, stand/walk for long periods, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and perform related physical tasks.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
