General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of Store Leadership, responsible for a specific area of the Store and general operations when acting as Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the Store, supervise Associates, and ensure a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They also maintain proper merchandise presentation and store cleanliness, and execute operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety and practice safe behaviors in all tasks.
- Maintain high awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security for all.
- Handle security of the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
- Ensure clear egress to emergency exits and remove clutter.
- Manage customer safety, accident prevention, reporting, and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to after-hours alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Show courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand consistently.
- Maintain a professional appearance and ensure all Associates adhere to dress code.
- Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
- Handle daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through teaching and follow-up.
- Receive merchandise trucks and process merchandise with urgency.
- Manage non-merchandise inbound deliveries and stockroom organization.
- Assist in merchandise delivery and placement on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock according to policy.
- Maintain merchandising standards, reduce damage loss, and follow presentation guidelines.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain a visible presence, and safeguard confidential information.
- Maintain PVM system and conduct package inspections.
- Implement company best practices to maximize productivity and minimize theft.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Ensure front-end efficiency and adherence to standards.
- Manage cashier training, break schedules, and equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and proper merchandise signage.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and accountability in fitting rooms.
- Ensure returned merchandise is properly tagged and scanned.
Administrative Duties:
- Handle cash pulls, deposits, and control procedures.
- Assist with payroll and scheduling compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications & Skills:
- Excellent verbal communication
- Fluency in English
- Previous customer service and supervisory experience preferred
- Familiarity with POS systems
- Basic math skills
- Availability to work evenings and weekends
Physical Requirements & ADA:
Ability to use store equipment, stand/walk for long periods, bend, squat, lift over 25 lbs, and perform physical tasks as needed.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Supervise Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
