General Purpose
The Area Supervisor is part of the Store Leadership team, responsible for a specific area of the Store and the overall operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They open and close the Store, supervise Associates, ensure a friendly shopping environment, proper merchandise presentation, and maintain cleanliness. They also execute and supervise operational processes as needed.
Essential Functions
Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:
- Prioritize safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
- Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety and security, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
- Secure the building, including entrance/exit control, EAS devices, Cash Office, and security measures.
- Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
- Protect customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
- Test fire alarm systems and respond to alarms as needed.
Customer Service:
- Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
- Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism at all times. Recognize Associates through company programs.
Personal and Store Brand:
- Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
- Maintain a professional appearance per Dress Code and ensure Associates do the same.
- Keep all store areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
- Responsible for daily trash removal.
General Merchandising:
- Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns are completed per standards.
- Handle merchandise receiving and processing with urgency.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of Stockrooms.
- Assist in merchandise delivery and placement on the sales floor.
- Secure and process back-stock per policy.
- Merchandise the department, including back stock, and reduce loss due to damage.
- Follow presentation guidelines and manage floor moves and signage.
Loss Prevention:
- Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain customer presence, and safeguard assets.
- Demonstrate integrity, safeguard confidential information, and maintain PVM systems.
- Conduct inspections and maximize productivity with best practices.
Front End Supervision and Operations:
- Follow best practices, manage line pacing, and train Associates on cash register procedures.
- Control break schedules and ensure equipment functionality.
- Maintain supplies and recovery in the Front End area.
- Ensure merchandise on the Front End is salable and properly tagged.
Fitting Rooms:
- Maintain cleanliness and compliance in Fitting Rooms.
- Audit and manage returned merchandise to policy.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage cash pulls, deposits, and control of tills.
- Handle payroll tasks, including punch edits and scheduling.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Store Manager.

Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills.
- Fluency in English.
- Prior Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
- Familiarity with POS systems.
- Basic math skills for retail.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
Physical Requirements/ADA
Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop. Occasionally push, pull, and lift over 25 lbs. For Stockroom shifts, ability to lift over 20 lbs.
