GENERAL PURPOSE:

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership team responsible for a specific area of the Store and the overall operations and supervision when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They are responsible for opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, maintaining a friendly shopping environment, ensuring merchandise presentation, and keeping the work area clean. They also execute and supervise Company operational processes as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

  • Understand safety as the top priority and practice safe behaviors.
  • Maintain awareness on the sales floor to ensure safety for all shoppers and staff, correcting or reporting unsafe conditions.
  • Secure the building, including managing entry/exit, EAS devices, Cash Office security, and other security measures.
  • Remove clutter and ensure clear egress to emergency exits.
  • Promote customer safety, report accidents, and follow emergency procedures.
  • Test fire alarm systems as scheduled and respond to alarms after hours.

Customer Service:

  • Treat all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
  • Demonstrate courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognize Associates through company programs.

Personal and Store Brand:

  • Represent and support the Company brand at all times.
  • Maintain a professional appearance per Dress Code and ensure all Associates do the same.
  • Keep all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised to standard.
  • Manage daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

  • Ensure recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards through training and follow-up.
  • Handle merchandise receiving, processing, and organization efficiently.
  • Manage back-stock and merchandise placement, ensuring loss reduction and compliance with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention:

  • Follow Loss Prevention programs, maintain high customer service presence, and safeguard merchandise and information.
  • Maintain PVM systems and conduct package inspections.
  • Maximize productivity while minimizing steps and touches.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

  • Ensure Front End standards are met, manage line pace, and train Associates on cash handling procedures.
  • Control break schedules, equipment functionality, and merchandise presentation at the Front End.

Fitting Rooms:

  • Maintain cleanliness and proper tagging in Fitting Rooms.
  • Ensure merchandise returns are processed correctly.

Administrative Duties as Assigned by Store Manager:

  • Manage cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks per policies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Previous Customer Service and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with POS systems.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Ability to work evenings and weekends.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/ADA:

Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, squat, reach, and lift over 25 lbs as needed. Specific requirements may vary for Stockroom shifts.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads (if applicable).
