General Purpose

The Area Supervisor is a member of the Store Leadership responsible for a specific area of the Store and the general operations and supervision of the Store when functioning as the Manager on Duty. They oversee opening and closing the Store, supervising Associates, and maintaining a friendly, easy-to-shop environment. They ensure proper merchandise presentation, maintain cleanliness, and execute operational processes as needed.

Essential Functions

Maintaining Safe & Secure Environments:

• Prioritizes safety, practicing safe behaviors at all times.
• Maintains awareness on the sales floor to ensure a safe shopping environment; reports unsafe conditions.
• Responsible for building security, including entrance/exit control, EAS device checks, and cash office security.
• Removes clutter and ensures clear egress to emergency exits.
• Ensures customer safety, including accident prevention and emergency procedures.
• Tests fire alarm systems and responds to alarms as needed.

Customer Service:

• Treats all Customers, Associates, and leaders with respect.
• Demonstrates courtesy, friendliness, and professionalism; recognizes Associates.

Personal and Store Brand:

• Supports the Company brand at all times.
• Maintains a professional appearance and enforces dress code.
• Keeps all areas clean, well-maintained, and merchandised.
• Responsible for daily trash removal.

General Merchandising:

• Ensures recovery, sizing, and markdowns meet standards.
• Receives and processes merchandise promptly.
• Manages back-stock and merchandising of the department.
• Reduces loss due to damage and ensures compliance with presentation guidelines.

Loss Prevention:

• Follows Loss Prevention programs, maintains a strong customer service presence, and safeguards assets.

Front End Supervision and Operations:

• Ensures efficiency and standards at the Front End, trains Associates, and manages equipment and supplies.

Fitting Rooms:

• Maintains cleanliness and proper tagging of fitting rooms and returned merchandise.

Administrative Duties:

• Handles cash pulls, deposits, payroll, and other administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Excellent communication skills, fluency in English.
• Prior supervisory and customer service experience preferred.
• Familiarity with POS systems, basic math skills, and ability to work evenings/weekends.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to use store equipment, stand, walk, bend, lift over 25 lbs., and perform related physical tasks.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

• Supervises Retail Associates and Stockroom Leads.
