Pacific Hospitality Group is seeking an Area Sales Manager to oversee sales for AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe/Downtown and Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown. The role reports to the Regional Director of Sales and focuses on ensuring revenue goals through proactive prospecting, facilitating, and closing small group opportunities in a dynamic hospitality market.

The ideal candidate will bring at least 1 year of sales experience, strong communication, and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

The Area Sales Manager position will oversee a designated market for both the AC Hotel by Marriott Phoenix Tempe/Downtown and the Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown. Our AC Hotel is located along Tempe Town Lake, offering our signature drinks in our AC Lounge, with 159 European-inspired designed rooms, that is perfect for the modern business traveler or vacationer visiting the valley of the Sun. Our Hyatt Place Phoenix/Downtown hotel is in the middle of downtown phoenix within walking distance to entertainment venues and convention center, with a 238-room brand new hotel to offer all hospitality needs in the downtown area including a full-service restaurant in the lobby.

The Area Sales Manager reports to the Regional Director of Sales and is primarily responsible for ensuring that revenue goals are achieved or exceeded by proactively prospecting, facilitating and closing small group business opportunities.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

• Identify new business that fits sales parameters by using a wide variety of means/tools and individual creativity and innovation
• Outreach via phone to targeted markets & responding to all assigned leads and RFPs
• Negotiate group business that meets or exceeds hotel revenue goals
• Maintain accurate information in sales management tool (Delphi.fdc) on all new and ongoing leads and accounts, including solicitation efforts and all activities are complete and documented.
• Follow proper event management procedures for event execution
• Maintain accurate and timely internal hotel communication within set timeframes
• Conduct site inspections, local sales calls and attend appropriate trade shows and client events to actively network
• Create a dynamic and positive relationships with total account management from sales phase through on-site execution of event

Job Requirements

• Minimum 1+ year of sales experience
• Must be willing to work some weekends/holidays depending on business demands

Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Experience at a similar size and quality hotel preferred
• Previous Marriott and/or Hyatt experience preferred
• Experience in internet research and database mining
• Basic understanding of event management policies and execution
• Excellent communicator with strong written and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills including follow-up, time management, ability to multi-task and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
• Skills for problem-solving, analysis, effective decision-making, negotiation and interpretation of contracts
• Knowledge of hotel features, benefits, and competing hotels within the market
• Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands to reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, or crouch. Ability to work in environment of varying temperatures up to 117 degrees. Must be able to lift/move and exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Finger dexterity is required to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, and other office/IT equipment.
