Summary:

Work closely with field supervision to plan more complex safety aspects of the project construction. Develop project specific training for job site personnel including subcontractors. Coordinate third party safety reviews with General Contractor.

This position reports to the Safety Director

Responsibilities:

• Uphold and promote the Unity/Equans Safety Culture-putting the safety and well being of Unity’s employees above all.
• Enforcement of the 12 Golden Rules-Stressing “Stop Work Authority”
• Assist in proactively planning and implementing Unity’s safety program to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment
• Implement incident prevention activities as directed or needed
• Maintain recordkeeping of employees and subcontractors training certifications
• Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions/activities.
• Conduct incident investigations and case management
• Conduct new hire orientation training
• Provide training to workers as necessary (Lift, CPR/First Aid, etc..)
• Ensure activities are captured in the Pre-Task Planning daily (PTP)
• Assist in writing / reviewing Job Hazard Analysis for all high hazard work (JHA)
• Shall be trained to inspect work areas and equipment to ensure compliance with all company, state and federal safety policies and regulations
• Conduct weekly toolbox talks with job site personnel and subcontractors
• Promote a positive , proactive leadership role by being the example
• Coach project teams in effective hazard identification and correction of issues
• Serve as company liaison with OSHA, Insurance carriers and other regulatory agencies
• Provide recommendations for safety improvement and accident prevention methods
• Work with operating management team to incorporate health and safety into daily work procedures
• Other duties as designated by the Safety Director Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• High energy and drive, and an ability to work independently in a trustworthy manner
• Working knowledge of construction safety principles, techniques and methods
• Practical knowledge of OSHA laws, regulations and policies
• Capable of identifying known potential exposures and recommending corrective action
• Computer skills and familiarity with the Microsoft Office suite
